First day in San Fran

cool views from the plane

Our day started out bright and early!! We were off the airport at 5:30 am and on the plane by 7:30 am and we arrived at 10:35 am PST. The plane ride out wasn't bad at all. It went by pretty quickly, we had the iPad, magazines, snacks and what not to keep us occupied. It was long but do-able. Once we landed we got our bags and head to the BART. That stood for the public transportation subway/elevated train that took us into town. Well let me tell you-- we got on the wrong train and it was way to busy to change trains...there was a homeless women/man we we're sure that was sleeping on the train. We clearly smelled poop...everyone that got on the train started to gag. I actually kept my hand over my nose and smelled my hand because it was so bad. One lady sprayed her whole bottle of perfume-- that didn't really help though. We arrived near our hotel and were happy to get off and get above ground to get some "fresh" air. We were welcomed by the homeless and street performers. What a crazy great first impression!

Luckily we were able to check into our hotel room early. We wanted to shower and freshen up before we headed out into the city to look for lunch.

view from our room

We were in San Francisco the same weekend as the Nike Women's Marathon and the Giants and 49ers playing! It was packed!! Union Square was mobbed with the women getting the bibs for the marathon. We ended up walking through Chinatown and boy was it busy. We forgot that these people were out doing their Saturday morning chores/errands! We couldn't get over the incline and the hills. It was unbelievable.

view of the Bay Bridge
Coit Tower
We were going to walk to Coit Tower but for those of you that know me... I was starving. All I wanted was to eat our late lunch early dinner. Plus it has stairs to climb, it is basically a lighthouse and Brian is fearful/doesn't like to be in small places going in an upward circle. So we went with the idea to eat and decided to go get food!! We found a fine dining establishment that had happy hour on a Saturday! Sign me up! It was great we ordered some apps and drinks. Good view also out to the water and the Bay Bridge.
on pier three
We walked down the Pier 3 and looked back into the city. It was quite the view. This was the only day that I can say it was a little chilly. I actually was warm the rest of the week during the day! At night it would get a little chilly.

~my love~
I couldn't wait to get on the cable car for a ride!! It was soo cool. This one in particular was out of service just hanging out on the track.

Going to a new city is always exciting. Especially a city like this...we heard about all the things we had to do and we wanted to take it all in. We were both exhausted though. It was a long day. We were still on our time. Brian laid down about 5:30 and fell asleep for the night. I held out until 7:30 and called it a night! We both woke up at 4:30 am!! It was rough the first couple of days.
